Welcome to a fruitful Academic year.
The theme for the year : “Perseverance is our field, Excellence is our Goal.”
Excellence is a quality which is unusually good and so surpasses ordinary standards. “Practice makes man/woman perfect” so goes the saying. In order to attain excellence in all that we do we need perseverance. Therefore in order to be on the road to excellence you and I need to persevere in commitment and dedication, hard work and innovation. Excellence is about doing your best. At St. John’s, all of you are highly educated with many years of experience. It is time to ask a question ‘Am I doing my best?’ If not, it is time to do your best. By nurturing a culture of excellence in your life as an individual and as an educationist, you open the path to success. To achieve this, you need to focus your attention in all the areas of the School and not just in one area alone. You have to put quality into everything you do. It is about stepping outside the comfort zone. “The chain is as strong as its weakest link”.
We do not need to strive for perfection but we need to strive for excellence. It is our gift in building a society that will strive for excellence. In order to attain this excellence one needs to have the passion, dedication and hard work. “Excellence is a continuous process and not an accident.”
When we do things year after year there is a chance of boredom setting in. It is this boredom that one needs to fight against to attain excellence. Perseverance is the ability and self control that pushes you to work through challenges. It is a value that you inculcate in the mind of your students who often give up. Can you be the catalyst to make the students to strive for excellence through your life of perseverance?
